Each child develops their own unique way of learning about themselves and the world around them as they develop. Their individual temperament guides their approach to objects, people, experiences, and events. When we consider a child’s temperament, we look at where they stand on the continuum of nine separate areas: activity level, regularity of sleeping and eating patterns, initial reaction, adaptability, intensity of emotion, mood, distractibility, persistence and attention span, and sensory sensitivity, as all these areas shape how a child grows and learns.
