NEBULIZER POLICY

For children who have respiratory conditions that require a nebulizer, we can administer the nebulizer treatments with the following stipulations:

• The first nebulizer treatment must be given before arrival. Nebulizer medication must be in the original prescription box, with clearly stated, pre-measured, and individually wrapped doses.
• Parents must complete an Authorization for Medication form specifying the dose and treatment times each day.
• Nebulizer treatments cannot be given on an “as needed” basis.
• If concerns arise after the scheduled doses, parents must come in to assess the need for additional treatment.
• For children with an Asthma Action Plan, parents will be called for verbal authorization before administering additional nebulizer treatments.
