Any injury that requires first aid or emergency care will be communicated to parents by telephone, or upon pick-up via an Injury Report, a copy of which is kept in the child’s file. Copies of all Injury Reports are kept in the child’s file and logged, and reviewed weekly by the director to note trends or issues. In addition, they are reviewed quarterly by First Circle’s Healthcare Consultant.
First Circle holds practice evacuation/fire drills with all groups of children and all educators at least monthly. Drills are held during different times of the day, and use alternative exits. An administrator documents the date, time, exit route used, number of children evacuated and effectiveness of each drill. Each program maintains an evacuation kit, which contains necessary items required for short-term evacuation. Educators will maintain constant head-count management during any evacuation.
