summer reminders

Each week of the program centers around a different arts medium—from music and colors, dramatic play and cooking to 3D art, textiles, nature, and more—with lots of fun activities to encourage artistic exploration and develop imagination and self-expression.

Throughout the summer, there will also be art-themed activities, fun outside, take-home projects, and opportunities for family members to share in your child’s artistic accomplishments.
You can find more details here …we look forward to a summer filled with creativity and fun!

childcare school bus

field trips

We are in the process of organizing field trips for our pre-kindergarten classes to enjoy this summer. Field trips are all via licensed school buses with seat belts. There is an extra charge per child for the field trip and an additional permission slip with complete details of the departure/return times, lunch details, and any other important information so keep a lookout for forthcoming details!

sun + heat

During the summer, we go outside at least once a day, provided the “real feel” temperature (temperature with wind-chill) is not above 90°.

summer clothing

Please take a moment to check that your child’s clothing and bedding are appropriate for the warmer weather, and don’t forget to label everything!

sunscreen + insect repellent

Please apply sunscreen to your child prior to arriving at First Circle (it’s best to apply sunscreen before getting them dressed in the morning to ensure thorough coverage). First Circle teachers apply sunscreen to each child for afternoon playground time.

For more than two decades, we have used Rocky Mountain Sunscreen and have been very happy with it. “Rocky Mountain Sunscreen SPF 30 for Kids” meets all the FDA Final Rule testing standards for Broad Spectrum (UVA/UVB) protection and water resistance (80 minutes). It is moisturizing, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores). For more information, please visit their website: rmsunscreen.com.

With flu season behind us, First Circle will begin following CDC’s updated COVID guidelines on May 1, 2024. If your child is diagnosed with COVID, they must stay home until 24 hours fever-free without medication AND symptoms are improving. The DPH recommends staying home for the first 5 days after diagnosis and/or masking indoors (2+). Please let the director know if your child is diagnosed with COVID so we can advise families and staff in the classroom.
