Every year, Read Across America reminds us of the magic and importance of reading, especially with young children. At First Circle, early literacy is an important part of our daily curriculum.

Why reading with young children matters

From infancy, children benefit from being read to. Research shows that early exposure to books helps develop language skills, fosters a love for reading, and enhances cognitive development. Reading aloud introduces children to new words, sentence structures, and storytelling techniques that build their communication skills.
Beyond language development, shared reading experiences create a sense of security and connection between children and caregivers. The simple act of cuddling up with a book strengthens relationships, making reading an enjoyable and comforting experience.
